my new summer job
One of the best perks of being a teacher is summer (after touching the lives of countless children, of course). It is something everone looks forward to, but to teachers and kids it is something more. The warm weather is great, but it is a legitimate breather to relax and charge up for september. I love the slower pace and losing track of what day it is. I enjoy watching day time TV and traveling lazily around the cape getting lost and getting fresh produce or home made ice cream. I have always worked a summer job waitressing or catering. Even though it is work, it is such a different field than acadamia that it is a fun fast paced break on its own (plus tips!)
This summer is different. I have four weddings to attend plus all the Iron bride filming. No decent place would hire me for a month’s work. Instead, I signed up for graduate classes. Life was simple and planned out, and I still felt a little guilty for having an open four weeks when an amazing thing came into my life….AUGIE!
Augie is our 8 week golden retriever puppy that came home this week. Since I am home this summer it is a perfect opportunity to train the little guy and give him the attention he needs. I was even able to swich all my graduate classes to internet classes so I have as much time as I can with him.
